Gert Janssens

Gert graduated with distinction as an architect from Artesis Hogeschool Antwerp in 2002. His thesis dealt with the reconversion of Petroleum Zuid as a brownfield site into a landscape park with sustainable business development. The thesis was selected for the Archiprix 2002. Gert further developed this graduation project as a researcher at Artesis University College. For two and a half years, he also worked as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Design Sciences. Gert helped investigate whether Flanders has the spatial capacity to organise the Olympic Games on behalf of the Flemish Community. After his internship at RJ Architects, Gert was able to pursue his passion for design at Poponcini Lootens Architects. Here he became cell leader of the competition team where he worked on numerous projects in Belgium and abroad.
