Filip Jacobs

In 1992, Filip graduated from the then Henry Van de Velde Institute in Antwerp (now UA Antwerp). He wrote a thesis on design education and, more specifically, on the interaction between student and teacher, with Walter Toubhans and Piet Lombaerde as supervisors. As his graduation project, Filip designed a housing project on the former abandoned Spoor-Noord site in Antwerp. After his internship with Studiegroep Omgeving and Jef Van Oevelen, Filip went abroad. He had the opportunity to develop into a project architect both in New-York at Rietveld Architects and at Santiago Calatrava in Paris and Future Systems in London. At these firms, Filip works on projects with international appeal: Syntrus Achmea Offices Eindhoven, Residential Kopp Phoenix, Olympic Stadium & Velodrome Athens, Liège Guillemins Station, Sant’ Angelo Metro Station Naples. The home front lured Filip back to Belgium in 2005 and so he joined Poponcini & Lootens ir architects in Antwerp, where he was responsible for numerous large-scale projects (Telenet Headquarters & Serverfarm, Sint Lucas Hogeschool Brussels, …).
