Filip Jacobs

In 1992, Filip graduated from the then Henry Van de Velde Institute in Antwerp (now UA Antwerp). He wrote a thesis on design education and, more specifically, on the interaction between student and teacher, with Walter Toubhans and Piet Lombaerde as supervisors. As his graduation project, Filip designed a housing project on the former abandoned Spoor-Noord site in Antwerp. After his internship with Studiegroep Omgeving and Jef Van Oevelen, Filip went abroad. He had the opportunity to develop into a project architect both in New-York at Rietveld Architects and at Santiago Calatrava in Paris and Future Systems in London. At these firms, Filip works on projects with international appeal: Syntrus Achmea Offices Eindhoven, Residential Kopp Phoenix, Olympic Stadium Velodrome Athens, Liège Guillemins Station, Sant’ Angelo Metro Station Naples. The home front lured Filip back to Belgium in 2005 and so he joined Poponcini Lootens ir architects in Antwerp, where he was responsible for numerous large-scale projects (Telenet Headquarters Serverfarm, Sint Lucas Hogeschool Brussels, …).
